In 2016, Distrito Federal was officially renamed to 'Cuidad de México', and new plates with the 'CDMX' logo started appearing in July of 2016.
CDMX retains the "09" state code which was used by DF.   Click here to see the DF plates (up to 2016).
Passenger plates started somewhere between the AJK and AJP series.
